Samsung said Samsung Messages would be discontinued in the United States on July 6. Users on Android 12 or newer were told to switch to Google Messages. The notice was a product shutdown, not a phone recall.

Microsoft cut roughly 4,800 jobs, mainly in Xbox and commercial sales. It also divested the studios Compulsion Games, Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs. The job figure and the studio names were both in the announcement.

OpenAI released GPT-5.6, described as bringing significant advances in cybersecurity. The release was a model launch. No user count was attached to it in the day's report.

China became the second country to recover an orbital-class rocket booster in a controlled way, after the maiden launch of the Long March 10B. Taiwanese prosecutors detained two Supermicro employees in an inquiry into alleged document forgery and shipments of Nvidia artificial-intelligence servers to China in violation of United States export controls. That case was an enforcement action beside the product announcements. It named the company and the chip vendor.

A London High Court dismissed much of a diesel-emissions case against Ford, Mercedes, Nissan, Renault, and Stellantis, while letting some damages questions go to a second trial. The ruling was legal, not a software update. It still sat on the week's technology-and-industry list with the recalls and model launches.
